Ivanjica – Dangerous predators are lurking in the Ivanjica forests, which is why hunters from the 'Čemernica' Hunting Association have traditionally organised a large wolf hunt in the village of Katići. The hunt was organised because a pack, estimated by hunters to consist of four wolves, has caused significant damage in the villages of Ivanjica below Mount Mučanj over the past year.
– The damage has been greatest to small ruminants, then to the game species reared in the hunting ground, as well as to hunting dogs. They have destroyed around thirty hunting dogs in the Čemernica hunting ground in the last year, so there hasn't even been an opportunity for big game hunting on Čemernica since then," Milic Tripković, the expert in charge of the hunting ground, told RINA.
Today's hunt was organised by the 'Čemernica' hunting association from Ivanjica in cooperation with the 'Kozomor' Hunting Association from Nova Varoš, whose meeting point was the village of Štitkovo. In total, over a hundred hunters took part in today's hunt.
– Given that these wolves are still in this area and that a large number of hunters have gone out today, we expect at least one more to be shot. We have enough hunters to surround and close off the entire area in which they move," concluded Tripković.
Incidentally, a hunt had already been organised for the aforementioned pack at the very end of last week, on 25 February. On that occasion, one animal was shot, while hunters unsuccessfully pursued another, which managed to escape.
