The current hunting season in Bosnia and Herzegovina

SARAJEVO – The winter part of the hunting season is currently underway in Bosnia and Herzegovina, during which the hunting of several species of large game is permitted, in accordance with entity regulations and the current hunting calendars.

According to the rules in force in most of the country, the hunting season for red deer, roe deer, chamois, as well as certain categories of wild boar, is still active. Of particular significance is that the hunting of wild boar (boar and sows) is permitted all year round, primarily for population control and to combat African swine fever.

In the winter period, hunting for brown bear is also permitted in hunting grounds where stipulated by management plans, and in strict compliance with the quotas and permits issued by the competent authorities. At the same time, certain species, such as roe deer, are not in season, as their hunting period ended in the autumn.

The current hunting season in Bosnia and Herzegovina will last for several more weeks, after which a closed season for most species will follow, intended to protect and recover game populations.
