Wolf shot on Štitovačko Field: Hunters from Nova Varoš and Ivanjica in a joint operation

Nova Varosh – A joint hunting operation by hunters from two municipalities was successfully carried out in the Štitovačko Polje hunting ground, in the Nova Varosh area, during which an older male wolf was shot. The operation was conducted by members of the Kozomor Hunters' Association from Nova Varosh and the Čemernica Hunters' Association from Ivanjica.

According to hunters on the ground, as many as three wolf packs are currently roaming the area, each consisting of three to seven individuals, which poses a serious problem for both game and households in the surrounding villages.

There are three packs operating in this area. The wolves in our area are causing a great deal of damage, often attacking and killing hunting dogs, and the locals are worried they might move closer to the villages and livestock," hunter Jordan Džekulić told RINA.

The shoot was carried out by the experienced hunter Mirko Pamtelić, who also successfully hunted this extremely wary and intelligent game last year. Among hunters, shooting a wolf is considered one of the greatest hunting feats, due to its exceptional sensitivity to danger and highly developed senses.

Hunting associations stress that such coordinated operations are necessary to ensure the safety of people, domestic animals, and hunting dogs, as well as to maintain the natural balance in the field.
