Climate characteristics
The climate is temperate continental with pronounced mountain characteristics. Winters are long and cold, with abundant snowfall, while summers are cool and mild. These climatic conditions are favourable for the development of forest ecosystems and stable game populations.
Hydrology
Western Serbia is rich in watercourses and reservoirs. The most significant rivers are:
- Drina
- Western Morava

The Perućac, Zlatar and Uvac reservoirs are of particular importance, as they provide important habitats for wildlife and birds.
Vegetation and habitat types
The area of Western Serbia is covered with dense forests of beech, spruce, fir and oak, as well as mountain meadows and pastures. The diverse vegetation provides natural food, shelter and tranquillity for game throughout the year.
Hunting grounds and game management units
The region is dominated by large-scale mountain and forest hunting grounds. The hunting grounds are organised within hunting associations and public enterprises, with a long tradition of wildlife management and respect for hunting ethics.
Game
Large game:

- wild boar
- wolf and fox (as predators)
Small game:
